Since the SATs and ACTs changed their formats a few years ago, the owners of the two tests have been floating around the idea of having students take the exam online at home. The first thought that comes to mind for most teens is “What about cheating?” In the last couple of years, College Board and ACT Inc. have tried using online tests at various test centers but discovered they have a long way to go before all teens and prospective colleges feel comfortable with its format and resulting scores when compared to paper/pencil exam scores. Our message for teens is to stick to the paper/pencil-based exams even when you’re offered a deeply discounted fee to take an online SAT or ACT test.
